I received an Advanced Reading Copy of The Wild Robot Escapes from NetGalley in return for an honest review. Thank you, NetGalley! The Wild Robot Escapes is out March 13, 2018.
Peter Brown's follow up to the bestseller The Wild Robot is a fantastic sequel, where robot Roz faces hard and dangerous choices with kindness, feeling, and love.
Roz the robot has been swept away from her wild island home and her beloved goose son Brightbill to be repaired and rebooted. She finds herself on a farm and considered "just a robot" but Roz is a smart and resourceful robot. She befriends the family and hides her longing for son-all while planning her escape. Roz knows where she belongs-she's a wild robot and must return to her island and her life there-but can she manage it?
My son adored the first book and we both loved this one as well. The illustrations in my ARC were sparse, but even that didn't deter us. The story moved along well and despite being about robots is a truly genuine, gritty tale of survival, love and knowing where we belong in the world. Pete Brown is a gifted writer of complex feelings and The Wild Robot Escapes is a simply perfect sequel.
Overall: 5/5
